Visitors & Volunteer
Welcome to Visalia Adult School! We value the presence of our community members, parents, and guardians on campus. To ensure a safe and secure environment for all students and staff, Visalia Unified School District and Visalia Adult School utilizes the Raptor Visitor and Volunteer Management System for all individuals entering our school.
Before Your Visit:
To help us make your visit as smooth as possible, please familiarize yourself with our district's visitor and volunteer guidelines. The direct link to our VUSD Volunteer and Visitor site is located here: https://www.vusd.org/volunteer
For Visitors (Attending a Special Event or Single Activity):
- Definition: A visitor is an individual who attends a special event, a meeting, or a singular activity on campus.
- Check-in Requirement: All visitors are required to check in at the school office upon arrival.
- Identification: Please bring your valid Driver's License or other government-issued ID for quick and easy check-in using the Raptor system. This system scans your ID, compares it to registered sex offender databases (also known as Megan's Law clearance), and prints a visitor badge.
- Visitor Badge: You must wear your issued visitor badge visibly at all times while on school grounds.
- Check-out: Please remember to check out at the office when you leave.
For Volunteers (Assisting Students, Schools, or Programs):
- Definition: A volunteer is a non-paid individual who, with District authorization, provides ongoing assistance to students, schools, or educational programs.
- District Clearance: To become a cleared volunteer for VUSD, you must complete the district's volunteer application process through the Raptor system. This process includes a background check and may require fingerprinting depending on the nature of your volunteer activities. You must visit the VUSD Volunteer website to complete this process.
- One-Time Clearance: Once cleared as a volunteer through the district, you are cleared to volunteer at any VUSD school site without needing to re-clear at each individual school.
- Check-in Requirement: All volunteers must still check in at the school office using their ID and the Raptor system each time they visit.
- Volunteer Badge: You must wear your issued volunteer badge visibly at all times while on school grounds.
Becoming a VUSD Volunteer:
If you are interested in becoming a regular volunteer with Visalia Unified School District and our school, Visalia Adult School, please visit the main VUSD volunteer page for detailed information on the application process and requirements. VUSD has different volunteer clearance levels. The specific level you'll need, and the application process, depends on how you plan to volunteer:
- General Clearance Volunteers (Level 1): For general assistance under staff supervision.
- General Clearance Volunteers (Level 1A): Specifically for volunteering in preschool settings.
- Extended Clearance Volunteers (Levels 2 & 3): For roles requiring more independent interaction with students or specific responsibilities like driving.
Each level has unique requirements, and you'll complete the appropriate application through VUSD directly based on your intended volunteer activities.
