Adult Secondary Programs

Visalia Adult School offers a variety of programs to help adults achieve their high school equivalency or diploma. These programs are designed to meet diverse learning needs and prepare students for further education or career advancement.

The Adult Secondary Programs include:

  • Adult Basic Education (ABE):

    • Classes for students with skills below the high school level.
    • Focuses on foundational skills in Language Arts and Mathematics.
    • Prepares students for the High School Diploma, GED, or HiSET programs, as well as for employability and career advancement.

 

  • High School Diploma Program:

    • For individuals 18 years or older who wish to complete their high school requirements.
    • Offers flexible learning pathways, including direct instruction and independent study.
    • Allows for the use of work experience for elective credits.

 

  • High School Equivalency (HSE) Programs:

    • GED® Preparation: Provides instruction and resources to prepare students for the four sections of the computer-based GED® test (Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, Social Studies).
    • HiSET Preparation: Offers preparation for the five sections of the computer-based HiSET test (Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies).
