Adult Basic Education (ABE)

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program at Visalia Adult School is designed for individuals who need to develop or enhance fundamental academic skills. It serves students whose skills are below high school level, as well as those seeking to review and strengthen basic knowledge after a period away from formal education.

This program focuses on building essential competencies in:

  • Basic Language Arts: Covering foundational reading and writing skills.
  • Basic -Intermediate Mathematics: Addressing core mathematical concepts.

Successful completion of the ABE program prepares students for various pathways, including:

  • Transitioning into the High School Diploma program.
  • Enrolling in High School Equivalency (GED® or HiSET) preparation.
  • Enhancing skills for increased employability and career advancement.

How to Register:

To enroll in the Adult Basic Education (ABE) program, please complete our online registration:

For New Students: Click "Create Account" on the registration portal to begin your enrollment.

For Returning Students: Please log in to your existing account using your login and password.

After completing your online registration, you will be directed to sign up for a placement test. You will need to complete the placement test before you will be enrolled in the program by the counselor. You will meet with your instructor for an oprientation before you begin.
